Limited Edition: Bex Glendining 'Begin Again' (2021)

This is a limited edition print commissioned for the Foundling Museum's Superheroes, Orphans & Origins: 125 years in comics exhibition in 2022. The exhibition explored the representation of foundlings, orphans, adoptees, and foster children in comics, graphic novels and sequential art from around the globe. This work by comic artist Bex Glendining examines care identity and experience and was specifically commissioned for the exhibition.

Glendining writes:

Inspired by Superman's origins, Begin Again explores the idea of growth and discovery of self in a new environment, alongside aspects of isolation, loneliness and puzzlement. Featuring both snapshots from the character's new life and abstract snippets representing negative and soetimes overwhelming emotions, the story flows in a non-linear pattern that can be read in any order with the viewer revisiting panels to change or repeat the story.
